For applicants in particular, you'll notice they are grouped together with an "eye" icon next to them--click on the eye and you can then approve/reject them. If you approve them, they become a member.

I've experienced a problem with accepting an applicant.
I am still setting up our guild's GuildCafe page. I have it set to be open for people to add themselves to the guild, but the default rank is set to Applicant. I also changed the Applicant rank to be able to post in the forums so they can post a message that I will easily see. (Actually I'm not sure if this is the best way - There may be some sort of notice that alerts me of applicants already?) Anyway, I wanted to test this out to make sure I had it set up correctly. So I kicked my girl friend from the member list and had her go to our guild's GuildCafe page. The message to join the guild was displayed and she clicked join. After that I was able to see her name on the Members page under the Applicant sub-header with the little eye icon next to it. After clicking the eye icon then clicking on Accept, the browser refreshes to the Members page but her name remained under the Applicant sub-header. I had her refresh her browser to see if she could view the private forums, but she was still an applicant. I tried a few more times, clicking accept, to no avail. I even tried to just input her name in the Grant Access text box (while she was still an applicant) and it said she was already a Member. So then I clicked Deny, and she was gone. I double checked my settings and all looked good so I had her try to join on the guild page again. Same thing. I was unable to accept her application. It looks like the "viewapp" page is not working correctly. What I did: From the Members page I looked at the URL of the link to Approve/Deny my applicant and got the number after "viewapp=". I copied this number assuming it was the user's account ID. Then I clicked on one of our current member's name (which takes you to the modify rank/permissions page) and changed the number after "modify=" in the URL to load my girl friend's account. Success! I've had no problems just putting member's names in the Grant Access box, perhaps I should just do that for now. I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? Sorry this was so long, I was just trying to be thorough for Tarinth in case he has not seen this problem. I'm thinking it may be rare though since I haven't seen any posts about it. Or I am probably just over-complicating an easier solution because I am blind =\ |

On your rank page new members should go into a rank other than applicant (its a setting at the bottom of your page). An applicant is the rank people who are applying for membership go into. Applicant rights can be adjusted on the ranks page, but its not for people you want to be members.
If you are allowing for members to add themselves. They will go into the rank you have selected. This interface confuses people we know and we are fixing. p.s. There are no alerts ATM, but you can expect that to change in the next update. Until then, you will need to check your members tab daily if you are actively recruiting. |
