A simple and unobtrusive means of raising funds is to simply have a link for donations. I am not saying that every member has a heart of gold, but just having that ability and maybe some form of on-site reward for donating would enable GuildCafe to rely less heavily on ads for funds.

As you have already assured us that they will not overwhelm the content and will not be obnoxious, I have no problem with it.

I would not be willing to pay to get rid of them either. if they bothered me to the point that I was no longer enjoying the site, I would have to go to another.
