Talking Well well well.. Free?
So if your in here, you probabaly have all played a few MUDs in your time. I've done a couple... And have yet to be satasfied. I love these text based games, they allow imagination and writing skills to soar.... But do you have a favorite?

Free please, I'm a poor woman after all.

MajorMUD, (I know the DIKU players are gunna hate this) had the best combat system, and was by far my favorite.

Rogue Winds, naturally. But then I'm biased, considering I ran it. Heh.

Didn't have one favorite MUD. I used ZMud, which was (and still is) a client for connecting to different MUDs, MUSEs, and MUSHs. I surfed through 'em all!

Diku was released in 1991, MajorMUD in 1994. Muds and their combat systems have come a long way since then.

The naga queen whirls her right whip in a low arc towards you.
You leap over her blow, which smashes into the paved street.

The naga queen lashes at your face with her left whip.
You duck under her blow.

You kick the naga queen's tail out from under her.

The naga queen whirls her right whip in a low arc, coiling it around your legs.
The naga queen gives her right whip a swift tug as it coils around your legs.
Your legs are yanked out from under you.

You whirl your body around in midair.

You slam both hands into the naga queen's chest, knocking her flying backwards.

You land back on your feet and drop into a defensive crouch.

Twenty feet north of you, the naga queen slams into the side of a house.
Twenty feet north of you, the naga queen's body goes limp.

Twenty feet north of you, the unconscious naga queen crashes to the paved street.

You start advancing towards the unconscious naga queen.

You stop walking.

You stamp on the unconscious naga queen's head with your left boot, pulverising her skull!

Ive played a few of them...alot of post-apocolyptic ones. Off key just a tad but for ASCII type games there is none better than ADOM.
