Video Game Music
I love video game music (or VGM) and I'm wondering if there are many out there that love it half as much as I do since I figured out my PSP can be used as an internet radio player.
Any classic songs everyone loves? Or remixes or fan made works that are equally as awesome? I find a lot of Square-Enix games have amazing music and composers and it seems the fans put in an equal amount of time and effort making incredible remixes, or well thought out parodies. Some examples: -Kate Covington's Final Fantasy songs put to Celtic lyrics: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNHtbw4Kyf0 -The Black Mages and their rock inspired remakes: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCHD5Qudqc0 I'll try not to drone on... But I want to see and hear from people that also love VGM and see and hear what they've found and love in this little niche. Any games, any music, any remixes, I think it would be a grand ol' discussion. |

The music from The Witcher is really amazing. I am not a huge fan of medieval folk, but there are so many emotions in this music (or are those just emotions that I felt while playing the game?) that I downloaded it and listen to it from time to time.
Dune 2000 also had a pretty amazing soundtrack, like epic orchestral tunes with cosmic sounds. Finally, my favourite one is VGM form the Prince of Persia trilogy. I totally love it's mix of eastern melodics with heavy rock sound. Best combination ever, reminds me a lot of Orphaned Land. Plus, the Warrior Within made me discover Godsmack that I still love and cherish. I just copied the music folder from the games on a CD and keep listening to it obsessively. Can't recommend it enough. |

By the way, if someone digs the Black Mages, there is an awesome speed metal band which specializes in VGM covers, usually the classics (MK, Super Mario, Sonic, etc.) Their sound is brutal and extremely energetic. Just check this one out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4l1n69jTArI

Yes! I love Powerglove!!! If you also like Megaman at all, be sure to give The Protomen a listen! They converted two (I think) of the Megaman games into rock operas!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UpSHC1dqX1o And let's not forget the comedic sides of things! Ever wonder what the entire original Final Fantasy would have been like in ten minutes of rapping? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc32Znoj8dk While I'm still on Final Fantasy I might also recommend ocremix and their countless remixes... I was streaming them at some point and stumbled upon this trance version of a song from FFX and fell in love with it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8MDhdP94TKc |

I don't listen to video games music too often outside of them game, but Final Fantasy music has always been my favorite.
If you're into hiphop at all you should check out Mega Ran's Black Materia album with Lost Perception. It's all about FFVII :] The song Cosmo Canyon made me cry haha. |

I was sold on Chaos solo:
"And one by one you'll die by my hand, oh look what I've become! -This Fantasy is far from final, the worst is yet to come!" And also "I got so much HP you can call me terminator cuz these motherfucken muscles are buffer than Schwarzenners." |
