Borderlands?

Not sure where this game fits in as it's the bastard child of an FPS and and RPG so please pardon my post if this is in the wrong section.

Have only played a little into the game thus far and and I had a question pop up. I played the two character classes that I thought would be interesting and happened across what I am told is a rare gun while playing on of the classes and was curious if there was a way to transfer the gun over to the other single player class as I think I prefer than one over the other.

Have thought about trying to launch a co-op game with the two and dropping the gun but not sure if this would work. Anybody have an idea?

If you already figured this out then no need to read on.

I found only one way to swap guns with your own characters. It was done in co-op.

If you have a trusty friend give friend gun make sure you are not host. Then log out as current character log in as new character, friend drops gun, make sure game auto-saves.

Also this works with splitscreen.
