Funding your Vent/TS Server slots? Who pays?
Dear Guild and Clan leaders:

How do you generally go about collecting funds and paying for your Vent and TS servers? It seems that a premium server goes for around $22/month for a 50/slot setup ($264/year). Are most of you as guild/clan leaders footing the bill yourselves, or are you using a micropayment solution like Tipjoy to let people pay you back for their slots?

Really curious to see how everyone handles this especially in larger guilds with more slots needed and greater expenses.

I'm only in one guild that uses Vent, and there's a rich guy in the guild who just pays for it. (His income is 5 whole digits!) We're not complaining, considering we probably wouldn't bother with Vent otherwise.

Vent servers are pretty cheap. Really a donation system is the best route.

We had someone who worked in the IT business and was able to get us a bizillion slots for free.

Told a guild I have alts in about imvox though and they really like it. Thanks for that info wherever it is on this site!

I use a donation system. There is a slew of people out there who believe that because someone is a leader they must foot the bills. I have worked it where only those that can donate do, and I've worked teams where everyone must support the infrastructure. I'm working on an article on this topic right now...
