Mario Kart for Nintendo 64
I don't know bout u all, but all the racing games mentioned does not compare to Mario Kart for Nintendo 64. I had to drive 2 hours to purchase Mario Kart, but it was well worth it!!

Anyone else out there get down on shooting heat seeking red shells?

The best Mario Kart is still the one for SNES.

I have almost every game in the mario kart series (haven't got the Wii one yet). the original SNES one was definately my favorite.

The n64 one was pretty good. It was still obvious that they were fairly new to 3D, I loved finding all the glitches in that game. Jumping the walls in wario stadium, skipping 1/2 of rainbow road, finishing frappe snowland in under 1 minute...etc.

I would say that Mario Kart DS was the best I've played. Includes tracks from across the series, online races or battling with others nearby. Mario Kart Wii was fun, but I always go back to the DS.
