That's odd, he always seemed to be portrayed more as rubber or elastic, not really properties I ever associated with water. I can see where the others abilities sort of fit with the four elements, but even Sue remained a solid, she didn't become a vapor like air. Johnny & Ben where without a doubt elementals though.

Yes, he is rubber/elastic, but the way I interpret it, he can flow into the shapes that he becomes, so that's where the water idea comes from. Also, in my interpretation of them being the four elements, I can see where the idea of Sue representing air comes into play, since she becomes invisible like air.
