Assassin's Creed/2 (New Trailer!)
So they released the Assassin's Creed 2 trailer:

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47677.html

And I realized there's no thread on these forums concerning either the first Assassin's Creed (the one thread has been inactive for over a year: http://www.gamerdna.com/showthread.p...ssassins+creed) or the upcoming second one. So I figured now would be a good time to put this up here and see what people thought. Play the first one? Enjoy it or not? Looking forward to the next one?

I picked up the first one for the 360 used and enjoyed it far more than some people seemed to. While it is repetitive, a complaint leveled against it quite frequently, it was still fun. Some people thought the story was horrible, but some people also thought the story for the Xenosaga series was horrible. I suppose there's just an element of mystery and larger philosophical topicality that interests me.
Being as repetitive tasks don't bother me so long as the task itself isn't contrived or unenjoyable, I quite enjoyed Assassin's Creed. Only thing that I hated was more of a personal issue. I'm a bit of an achievement whore and alot of the achievements in AC were bugged. I still don't have my 1k/1k because there are two templars bugged in the world that I can't find.
As for AC2, I think it's rather clear where the overarching story is heading, and i'm interested to see to what extent my predictions come true. As long as they don't drastically change the core mechanics, stealth/action with sandbox elements, i'm all for it.

I loved the story, so many questions left unanswered, so much potential. I also loved the gameplay, I can deal with the repetitiveness (Hey, I've been playing RPGs all my life) when everything else is awesome. So yeah, I'm certainly looking forward to number 2, moor conzpirazy.

I loved the first one, even if parts of the story were a bit cliched (Your master is the REAL bad guy? Wow. Did not see that coming.). I had a few collision issues when trying to escape guards, but nothing that was a deal-breaker. I also liked that they didn't try to shoehorn in a romantic relationship into the story.

As for 2, I will play it, but I'm waiting for my new issue of Game Informer, which has the new assassin (who is not Altair) on the cover. I love reading about what games I'll be playing in the future while I'm dropping a deuce.

Didn't enjoy AC1 that much....only got through about 4 levels and it became repetitive. Did think it looked beautiful, had good mechanics (a little TOO easy at times) and a good story. That trailer doesn't excite me too much though.

Didn't like the first AC after playing a few hours into it... it just got a bit too repetitive for my liking. Thankfully, it seems like there will be a bit more variety in the second one (and he can swim now! xD).

Also looking forward to how Ezio (the new main character) can use two hidden blades. Can't really see the use in them.

He's an assassin, he'll find ways to make uses for them.

I liked the first one, but of course it was too repetitive.

My main problem with it was that it wasn't really stealth. You ganked someone, walked around the corner, then noone recognized you at all. Outside of the monks, noone in the entire city is in white, how can you not recognize him?

The Thief series still remains very solidly on top of the stealth/action genera for me. You always are nervous in Thief. Are you gonna get caught? Are you gonna thwap that guy and be successfull? Someone smack talks you you can thwap him and you know he's not coming back. Assassin's creed you thwap or gank someone, they get carried off and simply respawn later.

Really interested to see what they do. I really liked the first one and I have all the same gripes as everyone else. I have always said this game was a little bit of a let down, but will make a groundbreaking sequel if they listen to what the fans have to say. Take some pointers from hitman and vary up the kills and tasks a bit. Also if you can make it look like an accident so that you don't HAVE to run that would also be cool.

As far as mechanics, if they changed nothing about the way you move/run/fight I would be totally happy with the game. Sure it could improve somehow (it always can look at Metal Gear) but as of now I am totally happy with that part of the game.
