My favorite one is Guild Wars.
 I am currently playing Guild Wars now. I like the fact that max level isn't high .So that if you decide to try another character combination out,you don't have to play six months to a year to get to the level of original character. The game doesn't penalize you if you decide to try new combination of characters. I also like the fact you don't have to be max level to defeat a max level character. You can have hundreds of spells but only get to choose eight spells to use at a time. Battle outcomes depend on your skill, not whether or not you are max level. How well you choose your eight skills and your knowledge of how those skills can work together can determine whether you win a battle or get defeated really quickly. You can also choose to play PvE or PvP. The celebrations that they have are also fun. You don't have to play the first three chapters in a specific order. They were made as stand alone games each featuring a different continent.You also have the option of linking two or more chapters together which is cool. There is only one true expansion to the series and that is Eye of The North, in order to play it you have to have a character from one of the first three chapters. Doesn't matter which one as long as you have a character from one of the three chapters. There are also two requirements the character has to be level 10 or higher and be able to go to capital city. That is where you can gain access to Eye of the North.

I guess my favorite would have been WoW back when I was still playing. RuneScape had a strange charm to it too.

I would have to say EVE is my favorite of them all. The graphics are just awesome. Gameplay is great, could be better with joystick control, but there are reasons for that. PvP in EVE is great too. Fleet combat is the best with individually tweaked ships.

Guild Wars
 because:-It has nice balanced skills -no PK -no high-lvl pwning (cap at 20) -no uber items (ther eis nice items but not putting game too disadvantage for those new) -not too cash shop based (ther is online shopping but the things on there other than the bonus mission pack and extra slots can be done with patience in playin the game)
