I still have to play some FF, but so far my favorite ones are:
FF Tactics A (FFTA2 was worse than the first, at least it felt that way) FF X (I enjoyed the Blitzball, the skill system and the plot) FF VIII (Still have to beat it, but man, the few hours I played were awesome) Even if it doesn't really fit in this post, Kingdom Hearts includes some of my favorite FF characters in a very amusing way (Hurray for Cloud!!) |

After DEEP deep thought... I am at a point where I believe Final Fantasy XII is my favorite!
Alright before you riot hear me out. I thought the story first off was very very well written. All of the characters that took part of it had very believable and amazing back stories. It was the first final fantasy where I didnt get bored with the fighting either, and the first time I really used green magic and strategy. I usually just spend a few hours to level up then waste the bosses, but in this game even after leveling up alot, I was still struggling with the bosses in a good way. The environments were so amazingly beautiful and extensive. I loved not having random battles and seeing the enemies running around the world, also more believable. Cons: Vaan was useless and a whiney little B. He wasnt even really involved with the story, he was the main character but really he wasnt, it was ALL about ashe, who I believe to be one of the strongest female ff characters (personality wise) And some of the fighting elements were a little irritating and some of the puzzles. But overall. I still think FF 7 is the best, but FFXII gave me a run for my money! |

From the FF games I've played, I'd probably say I've enjoyed FF IV (DS) and FFIX the most. I like the characters from FF IV, even the bad ones. :P And FFIX is just a beautiful game.

Sure it is melodramatic and the English translation is incredibly painful at times, by my favorite is FF VIII.
So many people love IX, but I absolutely hated it. I'm starting to feel like I missed something and I should go back and play it again. |

My all-time favorite Final Fantasy game would have to be VI. VII and VIII were also great and I loved the weapons from those games. XII was terrific. The ability to set up a limited AI for each character via the Gambit system was something that I thought at first I would hate, but it actually added another layer of strategy and customization.

I am more then likely with the majority when I say Final Fantasy VII. X was pretty wicked as well but 7 was the one that got me into the series. I loved the story and characters. Especially Sephiroth x3

FFV, the job system was just too good, plus it was my first FF game.
