I agree with Lianna, and maybe even on the Tidus bit. (Flame me gay, I don't care, at least I dare say something about another guy's looks.)
I have been spending ages on both the game and my keyboard, playing the music. It's brilliant. ^^ |

Same with me, though Secret of Mana and Xenogears are pretty high on my list as well, and the Tales series is not far behind those.

Elder Scrolls 3 Morrowind and its expansions
Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion and its expansions Fallout 1, 2 & 3 (and its expansions) Tales of Symphonia If I had to choose a #1 from that list it would be Elder Scrolls 4 Oblivion. Specifically The Shivering Isles expansion. I'm not big on JRPGs but on occasion i find one i like. All the JRPGs my friends tell me to check out because they are just the best have friggin 30-40 minute cutscenes and i just cant stand that shit. If i wanted to watch a movie i would have watched a movie.

Ever since I beat it (which was quite recent) my favorite is Ar Tonelico: melody of Elemia

As far as pure RPGs are concerned, the original Legend of Legaia is still my favorite. The story seems cliche (I would argue intentionally, considering the themes involved later) at first, but once the plot gets going, few games are it's equal.
Soul Nomad is a Strategy RPG, but the tedium is kept to a minimum and it is one of an infinitely small number of games that have ever caught me by surprise. If nothing else, the game is worth playing for the plot twists alone. One in particular, even. |

My favorite RPG of all time is Suikoden II, followed closely by Dragon Warrior, Illusion of Gaia, Secret of Mana, FFVII and Chrono Trigger.

Greatest RPG I've ever played is, by far, Skies of Arcadia Legends. My one regret is that it fell prey to my own personal RPG syndrome. Which is the fact that in almost every RPG I've ever played I got really close to the end and then stopped playing for some reason or other. It's quite a list. Half the time I come back and finish them months (or years, even) later. Skies is just biding its time. Someday it will shine again.
And that day shall be magnificent. |
