My GOTY has always come down to which game gets the most playtime and is fun at all times. Last year saw Crysis and this year Left 4 Dead gets my 2008 vote. I've not played a game this intensely or had this much fun since CS 1.3. Funny how a game that wasn't even on my radar or hypelist can still surprise.

Fallout 3 gets my vote, but Grand Theft Auto IV is a very close second.

My favourite game is call of duty 4.It exist since 2007 i'm not sure about the date but i believe it's the best game.

Fallout 3
followed by a tie between Grand Theft Auto 4 and Metal Gear Solid 4
with Fable 2 falling in 4th

and a Left for dead rounding out the 5th... need a new IP in there somewhere don't we? =P

Personally, I really got into "Braid" and "Mirror's Edge" this year. If I had to pick a game of the year though, I'll go with Fable 2.

It's been a disappointing year for me in gaming. I would have said the new Eq2 expansion, don't ask me what it's called I've wiped the memory away.. But I left the game right after the cash shop fiasco.

And then there was AoC, good game imo, but not game of the year material oh no.

I'd go with Fable 2 except I don't have an Xbox and it's not out for PC yet.. Can I put my vote for Runes of Magic open beta? I think that's the best thing I've played this year. lol...

Spore would be my favorite of the year. It was a great game, and the customization was simply incredible.

Runner ups: Little Big Planet, Left 4 Dead, Fable 2

Rock Band/Rock Band 2, hands down. I logged more hours playing that game than I did at work this year.

RB2 has definitely gotten more playing time on my part than any other game.

Braid was a literally mind blowing game, and had a great but simple plot that I throughly enjoyed and would recommend to everyone who plays any games. Also one of the most difficult games I've ever played.

Geometry Wars 2 was killer for fun and retro action for me.

Fable 2 is NOT a GotY for me. Too buggy. Too easy. Too overhyped. Fallout 3 was cool, but not groundbreaking for me.

The expansions to TF2 have been nice, and its my FPS of choice still. I haven't gotten around to playing CoD4, as I'm still scarred from trying CoD2 on my Mac (horrid experience).

Overall this year I've been let down time and time again from overhype of games. See Spore. I didn't want 5 mini-games that were all blah. After 10 years of development I wanted a game that really evolved.
