PS3 other OS?
sorry im a noob when it comes to consoles =P....
i know how to play em >.< but have no idea how anything works on em >.<

first thing i searched for was installing windows on Ps3....
every1 said u need linux...
so then i saerched Installing Ubuntu on Ps3....
they said u need Fedora....
what do u really need and how do u do it?
and if u format ur HD to make another partition will it wipe everything thats already there? ( songs, vids, SAVE GAMES! =P )
and whats the advantages of getting another OS on ur ps3? lol

i think thats all for now....plz answer quick

To my knoweldge you can only install Linux, and I believe it is capped at a 20 gig partiton.

I would assume it would use free space and give you a warning that the drive can't be partitioned if you are using more than the partition you are trying to create.

If you are too lazy to get your butt off the couch to go to your regular computer, you can put whatever programs run on said OS onto the PS3.

HAHAHAHA, thats an outstanding, yet direct way of putting it... ! I actually just ran a connector through the wall from my desktop to my flatscreen and use a wireless keyboard and mouse! Although I can get up if I want to, I do enjoy the access to everything on my system in the family room rather than just in my office... heh

hehe There are a few places in the world though that are so short on space they want as few devices as possible, so I suppose there's that reason.

In addition to what was said in this thread, I'd recommend that you get Yellow Dog Linux (it's free). It's the only Linux distro (to my knowledge) that is made for the PS3. Meaning most of the features work out of the box, though tweaking might still be necessary.

As for advantages, you can do whatever you'd normally do on a computer short of playing 3d games (emulators work though) and playing HD video content. Also, I've heard that installing flash might take some time.

So basically surf pr0n. Though it's got a Blu ray in there so that'd be way better if you can get some Blu ray pr0n. (The ones so far are ridiculously expensive at $50+ a pop. How is that ever going to be adopted at that price? Sheesh.)

That was just pure gold. "Pr0n now coming to Blu-Ray at 1080p."

By the way, nice website. I learned quite a bit from it (especially concerning power supplies).

While the Chinese had it first, I wasn't kidding. You can find sites on teh Intarwebs that sell it. Though, you do have to check that it's actually 1080p. I haven't looked at them too much (kind of hard to watch anything while homeless :cry: ) but I know some are just blu-ray versions without being enhanced beyond their regular DVD version.

Now Sex And Zen the 3D porn with a 4 mill budget, that's crazy!
