CoD4 and Gears 2 are up there for me, mostly because of the company I play it with. Also, I'd just like to note that I hate the Halo series. Shields are retarded.

Battlefield is definately good, I originally bought battlefield 2: modern combat because it came with 3 months og xbox live gold for free. I wasn't much of a FPS player, but it was $20. That's the game that got me playing them.

Halo 3 is a really good game, it was the first halo game I really played.

But I have to say my favorite FPS game has to go to Rainbow 6: Vegas 2. Definatly the bes FPS I've played.

Aa Ftw!
The most realistic (and best imo) is easily America's Army (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/America's_Army). It's free and has continually been developed since it's release in 2002. Looking forward to the release of version 3 which incorporates the Unreal 3 engine.

The most fun for me are the Battlefield series.

I personally like CoD4, but my roots probably come from hours of CS and DoD:S before the hacker takeover......

I have to go with COD 4, Half-Life(especially CS) DN3D, and Quake 2.

I never really got into FPS games until Goldeneye on the 64 that was the one that got me started.

After 007 I went back to playing RPGs again but over the last couple years I got into MOHAA which I came in really late on but the game was still great.

As of lately I grabbed up a copy of COD4 when it came out and I really like that and I just got a copy of COD5 which was only released in stored here about 3 weeks ago and I am loving it.

I don't think the setting such as WWII or modern weapons or even something non-realistic like Halo matters much. For me the game is good when everything works the way it was intended to work and the gameplay is what holds your attention not just pretty graphics or any of those other gimmiks.

The biggest problems I ran into? With MOHAA it was all the hackers really. The game is poorly coded and allows way way to much freedom to rip the files apart and make a cheat happen. When I found out just how easy it was to make a good cheat for MOHAA that was not detected by any of the shabby little anti cheat serverside programs around I was disappointed to say the least.

In other games the issue is usually just glitches with the game in general that make playing the game a poor experience.
