I Hope this is the right place to ask this.
My question is how can you tell when someone's account has been hacked?

My RL friend Brian hasn't been around lately, but I've seen him on in the game.
I took these screen shots of an exchange I had when I tried to send him a tell.

Weird, those pictures sure do look really strange. The stuff he was private messaging you looked like some sort of code or weird mashup of stuff.

Most hacking seems to come from running UI mods that have automatically been updated, and you haven't checked the source code on to see what they are up to. Sometimes they contain key loggers, and then you get 'hacked'.

But then again, I've never seen a hacker whisper back at someone either. They normally just take your stuff and transfer it to a gold selling account.

Someone suggested that I send Brian mail in-game..
I sent the following

That is freaking bizarre. I googled the numbers (i.e. 92709190@N00/2355994098) to and saw that most of them relate to photos of letters on Flickr (some don't correspond to anything) before I clicked your link to the live journal.

I don't have the patience to type in the ones from the screenshots.

Whatever that means. And I agree with Mia. I could copy and paste these codes, but I'm not going to type out the ones from the WoW chat. My guess is he's screwing with you.

Edit: After a second look, those are the same codes from the WoW chat. So, I guess that is the whole message.
