Just Kidding! What do you listen to while you play?
The general sound effects of Voyage Century are such that they bear swift disablement before they cause permanent, irreversible damage to the auditory system. The music is also rather grating after the Nth time of listening and requires a swift muting.

In attempt to redress this imbalance, I've taken to listening to some rather nice tunes. Anyway, this got me thinking - what kind of music you like listening to whilst playing?

There has already been a thread posted about this same topic before.

But since I'm here posting in this thread, I might as well answer the question. For me it depends on the game I am playing. Certain games like Oblivion and Mass Effect can only be enjoyed with the music that was composed for the game IMO. Other games such as the Burnout series that provide songs by different bands as part of their in-game soundtrack, I will sometimes listen to those songs, then when I get tired of listening to those songs, I will listen to songs on my PC which is usually a mix of rock songs (like Disturbed, Red Hot Chili Peppers) and hip-hop/rap (like Ludacris, Kanye West).

No harm in starting a new one. Anyway, I'm not about to add a thread to a mouldy old topic. It's better to start anew, surely?

I'm with Roxi, the game's sounds are often important, so I definitely try to pay attention to those.
I also prefer to listen to the original music, since I feel it's just as much a part of the game experience as the graphics and gameplay are.
It's just the way the game is meant to be played, to borrow that nvidia slogan.

Of course if it's a multiplayer game that I've played a lot, knowing the music by heart by now, or if the music is especially terrible to my ears, I may turn it off and/or put on something else.
If I put on something else, it can pretty much be everything; I like music from many genres, don't have a custom-made playlist I always get back to or anything like that.

For competitive gaming? Footsteps and so on. For anything else, stuff like this:

Sometimes even this:

Metalcore, Trance, Jazz, Nazi marching music or even Hip-hop, whatever I'm in the mood for works.

Heh, I'm not sure you've ever heard the delights on offer in Voyage Century Online. Whilst most of the music is okay, the sound effects are pretty much akin to the sort of noises any toddler could make with a wooden spoon and a plastic tub.

That said, it's still a great game. Honest!

Ninjacube has much to be proud of
I usually listen to a random classic rock playlist from my mp3 player. Mostly 70's + 80s
