I remember when 5 1/4" floppies were new tech. I used to play games on cassette tape. Oh snap, I'm old!

I'm not oldschool enough to post in this thread but I'll do so anyways.

Commander Keen (Shareware)
Legend of Kyrandia series Lands of Lore Bloodnet (Wish they would remake this game, it had potential) Wing Commander (1,2,3 and Privateer) X-Com series *snip* If I go on this is going to be a VERY long post. Suffice to say there are more than a few. |

God, I remember doing that. I also used to buy the coding magazines that had games you could code in and save to the cassettes.

I got my first PC in '94 so not very old school, but I remember my first games in it were gems like The Journeyman Project Turbo! and Rise of the Triad.

I started PC gaming on my dad's computer in the early 90's, when I was about 10 years old..
-Commander Keen -Tank Wars (bomb) -Duke Nukem -Wolfenstein 3D -Rise of the Triad -Heretic !! -Hexen ! -Realms of the Haunting !! -Wing Commander (all) !!!!! -Interstate '76 !!!!! ("Hey Stampede, how 'bout a poem?") -Carmageddon -Carmageddon II: Carpocolypse Now !! -Destruction Derby -Raptor (this was a shareware game that was one of those top-down oldschool arcade plane shooters) -Comanche !! (Helicopter sim) Oh, and Doom of course. ( ; My favorite would have to be Ultima Underworld. I loved that game so so much. If you've never played it, it's totally worth seeking out on E-bay. Ironically, I totally missed the boat on Ultima Online. I even remember looking at it one day and thinking "ugh, those top-down graphics look terrible".... Oh how I regret that day. I miss DOS.

Those 5 1/4" floppies always had the best games. I can't remember the name of it right now but I used to play some game show game off a 5 1/4" floppy all the time on an Apple. I also played a lot of Choplifter.
I also remember for some reason playing some football and hockey game that were completely text based. Those were the days. |

My first games were all console games. The very first was probably either Super Mario or Super Mario 3? I don't recall if I had a Nintendo or an SNES first. There was a period that my mom went though where she thought games *caused* epilepsy and took them away. :/ I have played DOS games though, though I can't remember any names off the top of my head. I also loved going to the store because they had a Golden Axe arcade machine. :3 Also, Galaga. I can't pass up an arcade that has Galaga in it.
