I just want to add that when I saw the "psh whatever cracka" comment I IMMEDIATELY KNEW - that must be his girlfriend.

I am one of the few people who was lucky enough to have a girlfriend who was a gamer prior to me meeting her. However we like completely different games, she enjoys platformers, adventure games, and fighting games while I enjoy FPS and RTS's but we both enjoy RPGs of all kinds. I've played WoW with her for some time, but she never had the time to commit to an MMO. We both enjoyed Fable but my best gaming experience with her has been with tabletop games (mostly D&D).

My point is she will probably have different taste in games than you and you won't know until she tries.

The best way to get yer girl into gaming has already been mentioned, let her pick one she likes and go from there.
I got lucky and found out my woman loves the same genre games I play, so we have friendly competitons for toon building in mmos, and in the console world, well I cant beat her at golf, so I just try to make it a fun time when ever she want to school me..... but I have gently nudged her towards the pc and mmos effectively so I dont have to lose at golf so much anymore.

Spouse and gaming
My wife and I have been playing online pvp games together for about a year and a half now. The key is to find something you both enjoy and understand so you don't end up fighting irl as well as on the game. It has also been my expierence that as irl, your wiff will have all of your money in the game also.
