Old games made new.
What are your guys thoughts on the current trend of bringing older games to the DS, such as Chrono Trigger.

Good question ... well, for one, I'm freakin stoked for Chrono Trigger because I didn't get to play it the first time round (yes, I'm sorry). And, to that end, I'm excited at the possibilities of playing these older games that I missed - either redone, or just ported to a new/current console.

I think it totally depends on the amount of effort they put into it, a lot of them seem pretty lazy and just end up as weak versions of modern games using an old name to sell rather than updated versions of great classics...

That said though, I think Square, as much flak as they cop for doing it so often, are really very good at them (I bought all of their PS remakes, more recently scored FF3 for DS at the Jap launch having never played it and it was brilliant, inspired me to get it again in English and 4 as soon as I have a chance) and they have a great catalogue of solid titles that lend themselves well to updating. So why not?

And with the huge reputation Chrono Trigger has in the US in particular I'm sure they understand it'll sell bucketloads and are putting the effort in... So there's no reason for it not to be great! Will definitely be on my 'must-get' list once it's out.

While I like it, I would prefer a sequel than a plain porting to the console.

Whoever's first to release all of the Megaman X Games on one disc will earn an instant sale from me. I've been aching to play a slightly better looking Megaman game since all this Megaman 9 nonsense has been going around.

Speaking of which, what are everyone's thoughts on Megaman 9?

Don't know if you'd have seen it already but:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_X_Collection ?

I had it on PS2, no 'remaking' as such, they seemed to be basically direct ports, maybe even emulated but still looked and played great, was a lot of fun.

I'd love to see them redone also though, the basic gameplay is always going to be classic so a KOFXII style HD redraw of them could be incredible if they did it well.

Megaman 9 I'm looking forward to but have to wait for a new 360 first... Had finally planned it for a couple of weeks ago but since the Olympics they've been crazy strict on Beijing cargo, nobody's been able to get any in!
