Intellivision Lives!
I saw this today while browsing the new content on LIVE.
"Relive the eighties with Intellivision Lives! Play more than 60 classic Intellivision games all in one package. Check out the historical information and fun facts about the games, including interviews with the original Intellivision developers. View original Intellivision commercials and archival footage! Titles include Armor Battle, Astrosmash, B-17 Bomber, Backgammon, Baseball, Body Slam: Super Pro Wrestling, Bomb Squad, Bowling, Boxing, Buzz Bombers, Checkers, Football, Frog Bog, Golf, Hockey, Horse Racing, Hover Force, Las Vegas Poker & Blackjack, Las Vegas Roulette, Motocross, Night Stalker, Pinball, Reversi, Sea Battle, Shark! Shark!, Skiing, Snafu, Soccer, Space Armada, Space Battle, Space Hawk, Space Spartans, Spiker!: Super Pro Volleyball, Stadium Mud Buggies, Star Strike, Sub Hunt, Tennis, Thin Ice, Utopia, Vectron, and more!" I had an Intellivision that I got from a flea market. I only had a few games that actually worked. I'm slightly afraid to get this. Anybody played it yet? It sounds interesting but interesting doesn't always=good |

If it was an Atari 800 XL collection, I'd be looking into it, having spent many hours playing its games.
Some of the games are still fun to play, but I can't deny nostalgia isn't a factor as well. Since I never played on the Intellivision I am just not interested. When it comes to games that are this old, usually people that didn't play them when they were new, don't see the attraction. Old games don't often age very well, and these aren't remakes, but exactly what you got back then. Well, there's a 3D game selection hub as opposed to a boring menu, and there are unlockable commercials, but those too are only really interesting to original Intellivision players. Actually I'm not sure if that is in the XBLA version as well. On the other hand the package isn't all the expensive either, depending on what you expect to get. There is a Wikipedia article, and you could do a Google for: " "Intellivision Live" review", to get some opinions of people who actually played.

Well, I wasn't actually looking for a review...I know how to find those when I need them. I was just looking for discussion.
I agree that most people who will want to play it probably enjoyed the games the first time around, but I think it's a neat opportunity for folks who are interested in video game history to see where games have come from and for a little taste of the past. So many gamers are too young to have been able to play those games and now they can. |
