Some system spec might help.
Does it freeze constantly or just once in a while? He might not have enough memory. Just because it is a new PC does not mean he has enough memory. |

Tell him to explore his copy of vista and to turn off all the background crap that runs by default. There should be plenty of websites he can find through google on the subject.

Did he buy this pc whole, or did he buy it in bits and assemble it himself?

Not a clue then. If it was in front of me I could whizz through the whole system in an hour. Best thing he can do is check the various sites and keep pugging away at it till he finds a solution. Updating his drivers from the official sites is the best advice I can give right now.

It wouldn't lock up becuase of low ram, just run slow. If driver updates don't get it... well... a prebuilt system is unlikely to have these problems, but you still might want to check for overheating and that the power supply has enough, um, power.
![]() Then you get into hardware failures: bad ram is the most likely of all of the unlikely things that fall into this category. Be determined. The truth is out there. |
