I really wanted Hellgate to be a good game, but when I alpha and beta tested it, I just wasn't feeling it.

It got better since launch, a lot better, but it wasn't enough apparently to make up for the bad taste it left in people's mouths. Oh well, non illegitimi carborundum.

I'm just wondering if the market's going to skip Shooter/Action-RPG hybrids now (at least for the Online market) due to the crash and burn of HG and the mediocre results from Tabula Rasa. Lol, my beta account still lets me post on the forums, but I haven't been there in months.

As for FPS RPG, I still have high hopes for Project Offset.

Heh they opened the forums up months back. Total chaos right now you should go revel in the awesome.

As for Project Offset......that does look fucking amazing, but I was under the impression it was going to be more of a Savage-2/Battlefield game for D&D Nerds and graphics junkies. Doesn't make it any less cool, mind you.

Response from Flagship Studios! Limited details are provided, but at least it's something. I'm just glad to hear any kind of a response. Though it does seem changes are on the way for "all" that subscriber content. If FSS does end up, long-term, continuing to provide/own Hellgate, it's just a waiting game to see what changes are made with the profit model.

While the announcements from HanbitSoft, couple days ago, flat out says, they're going to be making their own content for Hellgate / own the IP. Which may or may not have something directly due to all the layoffs at FSS. What would be really nice, and possibly even win/win for anyone, is if FSS and HanabitSoft both retained (or gained) rights to the point of each being able to take the game in different directions and actually so. Could only be a lesser chance of if two very different flavors of HGL came out. Hellgate: London Asia and Hellgate: London (FSS). Would be fitting what with HGL being the bastard son of a Roguelike.

I'd just like to point out that Hellgate: London was doomed to fail because the developers forgot one small detail.

Dr Who always shows up to vanquish the aliens who attempt to wipe out London. Alien armada full of hell-spawned demons? Pah, thats what we Brits call a 'Two Parter', they'd never succeed.... so Hellgate was just a pointless exercise in 'wishful thinking'.

Besides, we all know that it should have been New York, not London, that got it first.

Well, it's not the news I hoped for, but it beats the news I honestly believed in. I acknowledge the game is fail, but I still love it, and I still want to play it, and can give bollocks less how others feel on that. If they can attempt any kind of recovery to where at least those who still enjoy it can still have it, that would be more than my expectations could hope for.

For now, she's going to sit cold and watch me play crap games like Requiem and cry while I give Diablo II more attention. I'm not really eager to log back in and continue plowing through the content until I see what the hell is planned for the future. If it stays up but goes to some kind of GW model (buy the game you have it) that's fine; I have no regrets on my lifetime sub going to waste. If it becomes an item mall game and my support isn't recognized, they can go suck an egg. If it's to go offline, so long and thanks for all the fish.
