How do I make a transparent layer for custom logos?
Hi guys,

I been playing about with my new guild site, custmising the banner and logo for the guild.

I'm not really all that adept at graphics stuff but I seem to be getting along until this problem comes up...

I created a custom guild name font, made it out of 3 layers, the background was supposed to be transparent, the to upper layers where the font colour and the under layer shadown effect. Unfortunately when I save it to Jpeg it seems to convert the bottom invisible layer to a white opaque background... trying to upload it as a pgn file isn't allowed on the uploader so can anyone give me any advice how I can turn the white part of my logo transparent to show the banner through it?

if jpg is your only choice your out of luck. jpg's do not support transparency's. you can "fake it" by matching the backgrounds. can you make it a tiff?

I figured it out \o/ I was saving as pgn instead of png. silly moo I am.

Thanks for the response Batgra!

You guys can close/delete this now if ya wants.

edit: wow... my typing in my first post was really bad :P

heh, i assumed pgn was a typo, and you had meant png

Nice! I like what you did with the nemesis logo/banner and colors! How did you find the customization options? easy enough to use?

I'm a bit of a web noob so I had to experiment to understand what each colour and menu did in the customisation bits for the fonts and colours but overall its obviously idiot proof because I figured it out

Right now the only two things I wish could be added would be a way for officers and me to lock forum threads and the chance to add a poll to the front page of the guild site. Otherwise everything looks pretty cool to me.

I still need to work on the Nemesis logo... it will eventualy be a bronze/gold chrome look but its a good start and will do for now.

also if you wanted your logo to be in a different spot on the banner or be bigger, you could just choose to show nothing for the logo, and make the logo part of the background image.
