Been playing Genesis for about 15 years casually. Only have 200+ days age of my character in there but always coming back. If you like MUDs you should try it. Gen is probably one of the best MUDs that doesn't have those annoying numbers on screen that show you how much health you have and all that number. Everything in there is in description. Great to place to immers yourself and create your own made up character. PvP is also there. Open world PvP except the newbie town that you first arrive in. Most of the players usually friendly to newbies, there are free ship lines and there are newbie helpers online almost every day.
Just wanted to add to the subject of this topic - I experience interruction almost every day I play. I am a member of dwarven guild, see my elders on a daily basis. Get in group few times a week, when I have time.
