BF2 Point of Existance 1.7 release
I love this mod.......a lot of new stuff added including Mortor kits.
1.7 releases on July 20th Again, if you are still playing vanilla BF2, then you aren't really playing the game. http://www.pointofexistence.com/ The Ukrane army moving to contact.  German forces slug it out near the "sawmill" on the Carpathian Mountains map  German forces over running the Sawmill  Ukraine armored forces pushing to retake a town

Ok Torak, I downloaded POE and its is a beautiful looking mod.
A few questions for the noob though, are there other weapons available other than the intial weapons? If so, is it still reliant on my unlocks from the vanilla game?

There are other "kits" in POE but they are pick up kits. Look around when you first spawn in. The are rocket launchers, heavy machine guns, sniper rifles, anti air missiles and now Mortar kits. A word of warning though, you drop whatever kit you currently are when you pick them up. So if you play an engineer a lot and pick up a mortar, you are not an engineer anymore, its not just the weapon you get. By the way, the patch today loads the U.S. forces into POE, I missed that lol. I'm suckin tonight, the download sites are all full, I can't get into anything that will let me download it. Maps - Berezan Island - Blue Nile 2 - Crimea Beach - Assault on Odessa - Red Dawn - Risen - Olesko Castle Vehicles - US AAVP7A1 - US AH-6 Littlebird - US AH-1Z Super Cobra - US M1A2 Abrams... woot!!!   Note the POE M1A2 is slightly different then vanilla .:US - M1A2 Abrams- This tank has some of the meanest audio attached to any vehicle with it's imposing growl. The Abrams comes stacked with 39 heap and 39 sabot rounds making it an absolute menace on the ground. Couple that with 2 gunner positions, one a 50 cal machine gun, the second an M240 machine gun (thats the loaders hatch M240 NOT the coax so it takes a crew of up to 3) and this will be a very strong battle platform for the US. With the recent changes to how vehicles repair one another, expect to see 2 engineers operating those guns. Tanks are awsome in POE. You have different types of main gun rounds. HEAT rounds you use on bunkers or those guys hiding in building becasue they are explosive and SABOT on enemy vehicles. The Ukraine heavy tank (T-84?) has some sort of TV guided main gun round. Your camera actually travels to the target and you can guide it just a little bit if you are fast. I try to use it sometimes lol, if you actually hit with it, it usually kills.I generally play vehicles here and Infantry on "Project Reality".
