Excerpt:

Skin painted bright red, heads partially shaved, arrows drawn back in the longbows and aimed square at the aircraft buzzing overhead. The gesture is unmistakable: Stay Away.

Behind the two men stands another figure, possibly a woman, her stance also seemingly defiant. Her skin painted dark, nearly black.

The apparent aggression shown by these people is quite understandable. For they are members of one of Earth's last uncontacted tribes, who live in the Envira region in the thick rainforest along the Brazilian-Peruvian frontier.

Thought never to have had any contact with the outside world, everything about these people is, and hopefully will remain, a mystery.

Interesting to think that the world is large enough that there are still "undiscovered" areas.

The first thing he'll learn is "Are these people friendly?" shortly followed by "Are they cannibles?".

Mind you, "Are they immune to all the crap we're immunised against?" we'll learn about six months later once they are all dead after eating 'idiot stew'.

Some things are just best left the hell alone.

Can you imagine the mythology developed in their culture about our planes and any other technology they may have encountered in the past century? Provided that there is at least some air traffic near by or past expeditions. It might be obvious to some of you, or absurd, but it was a thought that made me pause for a second...

If we ever find out what that mythology looks like, I bet it will have some sort of supernatural creator involved somehow. And the planes are evil spirits, no doubt.

But the planes are evil, the picture clearly shows this. They're trying to shoot it down with their bows, they're brave warriors! Fight the evil spirits, fight them!

I suppose if they did think that aircrafts were divine beings then they would be kneeling instead of firing arrows at it in the pictures.

Yanomami are nearly untouched by modern man. But not because of their own desire to, more as the governments that surround them prevent them from being exposed to to much of the outside world, that prohibits trade and prevents them from advancing. Read Kenneth Good, Into the Heart. A Little subjective but a good read on these primitive/modern people.

Further more, maybe this is what we are like to Aliens, think about it. Maybe this is how we view God, every once in a while he flies over we are astounded, but until then we haven't seen or understand it we think it's something else.
