How do I unassociate a character from myself?

I claimed characters with the wrong account and I want to un-claim them so the correct account can use them. How is this done?

Just edit the character info through the gamer DNA I would have thought.

I have the option to delete the character, but I don't know if that removes it from the system entirely (all guild toons were imported when I created the guild) or just re-opens it to be claimed.

Hi burning.phoenix, when you delete a character, it is gone forever and there is nothing to be "claimed". The claimed characters are just placeholders that were created when did a one-time import of the guilds several months ago.
