I don't know why, but Far Cry has always seemed just completely boring to me. I guess I'm kind of biased because I used to play Turok back in the day.

I didn't like Far Cry 2's single player, but the multiplayer was hot.
COD4:MW was OK. Waiting for MW2 though.

Still loathe the CounterHack.... errr CounterStrike series.

I would say Far Cry seemed boring to you because it was boring. But beautiful.

This is such an open-ended question. When you say "best FPS" do you mean best on a Console? Best-looking? Is Descent an FPS? Is Interstate 76? Fallout 3? Do we care about plot or writing? Immersion?
