Description

Designed, developed, and distributed directly by the United States Army, this game offers an insider's perspective on the real-life adventures of an American soldier. America's Army is broken into two modes of play, which follow the daily life of an American soldier and the fast-paced field action of trained operatives in do-or-die missions.

Stories
Sunday, November 16, 2008 | neutral | America's Army (PC-MAC) | 1-16IN
I think all of us have faced it: the perfect shot lined up, only for it to be blown by a player who rushed in the line of fire and getting himself killed. The player who died then starts wondering out loud why I can't aim straight, why I don't use the SAI radar and why I'm actually playing on the server, since I don't know how team play works.

Now why does our poor casualty say this? After a quick study of his words it becomes evident he feels he has the right to openly question the skill of other players because he feels his game play is the best there is. Actually he feels everybody on the server should be aware of where he is and what he does because he feels he has the right to storm forward to get the most kills and gain as much points as he can. He however fails miserably because the other players actually think before they act, the poor casualty ends up being all by himself because he simply is not taking notice of team play and all the others around him. No, for him the only thing that counts is his name on top of the score board and everything has to be done to satisfy his cause.

At such moments I wonder: pardon me? I am actually everything this guy is claiming I'm not. My aim is pretty much stable most of the time, I check the SAI radar FREQUENTLY and I'm actually playing on the server I pay for. I actually KNOW where everybody is, plain and simply because I check the SAI radar before I move. I actually dare to say I can actually TELL who's sitting right behind me, I even know their exact positions in regards to my own. And if I find myself near another player I actually try to find a route that won't interfere with his line of fire. I even go as far as changing my position in a safe way or changing my body stance to allow the guys behind me a clear shot!

So, to all those who actually question the skill of me and my fellow players because they themselves suck at the things I mentioned above, take note of some advice or play another game. There's nothing more frustrating than lone wolfs who join the server, run around like they own the place but fail to actually get to the core of the game, which is working as a team. It's also very frustrating the same lone wolfs openly criticize other players, but actually fail to understand they are actually the cause of the problem because they just don't take notice of the other players and get killed as a result.

Thank god I find myself surrounded by players who play the game the same way as I do. If there weren't any I would have given up the game months ago. But it seems there are many players out there who actually approach things the same way. And for that I'm grateful, very grateful to be exact.

So, what's your experience with the line of fire issue?

ok game just a bit laggy and no real good servers

It was alright...for what it was. Hyper-realism in a shooter is always fun.

This is really quite a fun game but it's a little too detailed for some people. But for me it was just added in fun. One thing about this game is that the maps are friggin HUGE!!!

guido666

I really liked the realism (having been in the Army, myself), but disliked the PvP only gameplay with little scenario/story going on.
