MPAA Efforts to Ban the Number 09f911029d74e35bd84156c5635688c0 Leads to Revolt

The MPAA has been issuing DMCA takedown notices to any site that publishes the number 09 f9 11 02 9d 74 e3 5b d8 41 56 c5 63 56 88 c0, the key code used in HD-DVD copy protection. Recently this led to a full-blown revolt starting with Digg, where users plastered the front-page with voted-up articles full of the number. From there, the number has spread to hundreds of thousands of sites in an awe-inspiring display of how legal policy can lead to a PR disaster.

this is too funny. Had they not tried to ban it, nobody would know about it. I take it the mpaa is too nerdish and bytche to have kids, or they would know, that the more you tell us not ot do something the more we do it. And now that it has hit G4 this thing can not be stopped. you could just replase the 0 with a o, or even an O. O9F911O29D74E5BD84156C5635688CO. GOOD THING THERE AREN'T ANY O OR o IN IT. not even going ot use the code, but that big number FTW!!

interesting. so all my passwords and usernames can be copyrighted and no one else can use. better copyright "MPAA" and sue MPAA for using this acronym.

edit: darn got in too late for this trend. oh well, here's the whitespaced key http://sagez.net/amuseum/whitespace.htm opera users get extra content in a "blank page"

You'd think they would have learned something from the DeCSS fiasco.
