Age of Conan Early Access will cost you an additional $5

Thinking of getting in on the 3 day early access when Age of Conan is released? You better be thinking about forking over an additional $5. Is this a new industry trendsetter or industry blunder?

If you played pre-nge SWG then you basically paid to beta test 2 games that the devs threw in the trash, and started from scratch. But it was still fun.

And honestly....it's 5 bucks.

3 days of early entry 5 dollars
Griefing cheap lowbies who didn't shell out the extra dough...priceless

Slice it any way you want, this is, IMO, a disturbing trend.

I'm not upset how it is, because leveling will not be reset. It's a great boost up on the competition. However, if we were wiped out at release, it would be pointless.

I fail to see the problem to be honest. You get 3 days early access, followed by 30 days included with the box and then another 10 days of game play. Effectively, you are getting 13 days of game time for $5.

Any customer who complains about their satisfaction in this case should simply be ignored.

Given that theres probably some administration involved with early access, its only fair that there should be a charge for those opting to get it.

Personally I don't know if I'll do it, but thats because I know I wont have much time from may 23 til 26.

What in the history of Funcom leads you to believe that they care about customer satsifaction? But yeah, early access nets you 10 additional paid days: no loss.

Well, the cost is ok. You do get an extra 10 days of time, so it's a fair rate. I just don't like the extra gate being put up for early access. It's not quite about the $5. I'm just used to buying preorders, getting a couple days free then not having to have a cc charge for 30 days after.

I'm just not sure it was a wise decision in the customer satisfaction category.

Way better than making us buy the CE for the early access. IMO, CE items is borderline RMT.

From: Retina on 21-Apr-2008 at 02:45pm

Just to clarify: you get into the 3 day head start AND you get 10 additional days added to your account. So with the full preorder box plus the $5 you'll get 43 days of play. It's a really odd way of doing things, but you're not losing money really.

5 bucks to me = 1/3 of early access, this is horrible but most likely they will get away with it since its free income. I wouldn't be against $1 or maybe $2 but their pricing point on this one is way to high.

3 days can get you way ahead in AoC... If you're like me, you'll be doing it just to grief people in the underhalls :D

Thumbs up for the posting of the favourite, the news isn't good though. I'm not sure it can be justified charging that much for basically 3 days subscription, regardless of release time. One thing for a CE box, and another for glorified subs.
