Q. What sort of players annoy you the most? (Answer!)
A. Immature jerks. I call it crab-bucket syndrome, that is the kind of player that will drag down someone who's demonstrates skill and a good attitude by harassing/insulting them, causing unneeded drama. I've seen their type ruin a good guild more than once, and sadly, most get away with it because they're somewhat skilled, and I've found most guild leaders will overlook them simply because of that fact. They're a cancer, and should be cut out of any guild that's unfortunate enough to have their type. Skill is only one aspect of a good player in a MMO or any social game - attitude, integrity, and reliability also should be a deciding factor.
A. Yes, and I have a microphone
Q. What do you love or hate about PVP? (Answer!)
A. When two players are equally matched up with gear, and the same skill level - this is epic. This is the best kind of PVP there is, the type where you bust your tail to win, and at the end, both players go "wow, that was awesome and a lot of fun." Those moments, few and far between, are what make PvP so much fun.
Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
A. I don't play tabletop. Tried out D&D, but I'd prefer more of a free form type of game, not one that requires dice, charts, rulebooks, etc.
Q. What sort of tools (calculators, builders, spreadsheets, etc.) do you use to plan your characters? (Answer!)
A. Eh, do I really have to?
Q. What is the most memorable flamewar you can remember? (Answer!)
A. The one that I didn't get involved in.
Q. Beside GamerDNA, what are your favorite websites? (Answer!)
A. I usually frequent Gamespot and IGN for news about upcoming games.
Q. Are you interested in working within the game industry? (Answer!)
A. Yes. I'd love the chance to be involved with making a great game, specifically art and story.
Q. If you could cancel any online game, which would it be? (Answer!)
A. As much as people'd kill me, World of Warcraft. It's just gotten to be a cesspool of stupidity, arrogance, and immaturity.
Q. What music do you like to play games to? (Answer!)
A. Techno, rock, anything that'll get the blood flowing. I'm especially fond of Nightwish and Dream Theater.
Q. What question would you add to the Attitudes system? (Answer!)
A. "If you were to resolve a dispute between two guildmates who are both being immature, how would you handle it?"
Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. Honestly, the ones where I was surrounded by groups of friends and we just were having great times exploring and playing a game. FFXI, WOW... those kinds of games. Achievements don't' mean a damn thing to me unless there's friends around to share them with.
Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. Kill. Murder. Destroy. Rinse. Lather. Kill again. repeat.
Q. What are your thoughts on player-made mods/addons for games? (Answer!)
A. I think they have a lot of potential. Basically as long as they're not giving a player an unfair advantage or going against the TOS.
Q. What are the specs on your gaming rig? (Answer!)
A. I'd say mid/high range specs.
Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. I'd be a console RP game, with a great story and great characters, with a real-time battle system (I'm not overly fond of turn based games)
Q. When do you play, including timezone? (Answer!)
A. Mostly in the evenings, CST.
Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. Honestly, I used to hate it. I thought only nerds did that sort of thing - then I realized, it's acting. People will go and watch others act in a movie, and pay money to see someone be someone else they're not - yet, we'll laugh and scoff at someone who's trying to do it simply to entertain themselves? Of course, that being said, there's good RP, and bad RP. Not to mention ERP. *coughs*. I'd prefer to watch people RP, and be good at it, than seeing very bad RP.
Q. How many hours a week do you play? (Answer!)
Q. When you are not playing games, what do you do for fun? (Answer!)
A. I'm not a horribly active person, but I do enjoy long walks on nature trails and the like.
Q. Do your quiz results on GamerDNA reflect your personality, and if not, what did it get wrong? (Answer!)
A. No, I think they're pretty much accurate, I'm an old grumpy man gamer. Well, within reason. X3
Q. In real life, are you male or female? (Answer!)
Q. Have you ever had a memorable real-life meeting with other gamers? (Answer!)
A. Yes. I've visited a few guild-mates, and had a great time.
Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. Honestly, I'm not sure. When I first started MMO's, and gaming, I wanted to play with like-minded gamers. Lately, I've found myself quitting guilds simply because they became large and bloated with "lolwhut" people. I want to play games with good people, I'm just not sure how a guild can survive in an age of WoW, without acting as if it's comprised of mental giants.
Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
Q. If you could meet any game developer, who would it be? (Answer!)
A. Definitely Shigeru Miyamoto.
Q. Have you ever had a romantic encounter with someone you met in a game? (Answer!)
A. Nope. There's been times I've enjoyed someone's company online, but I don't think online romances are a good thing. Difficult to find a "real", good person. Maybe not impossible, but mostly that kind of thing just leads to trouble.
A. Why isn't there a multiclass option?
Q. What is a feature you would like added to GamerDNA? (Answer!)
Q. Do you feel relationships within games are meaningful? (Answer!)
A. They can be, but for the most part... I'd have to say no. Mostly, people will play with others only to achieve a goal. When that goal is met, or no longer valid, then whatever resemblance to friendship was there seems to fade quickly. I suppose it's more likely to happen in games where there's a cooperative feeling past just "I will join this group to get shines", but so far... I haven't seen a whole lot of meaningful relationships.
Q. If you could bring any book, movie or comic to life in a game, which would you choose? (Answer!)
A. Good question. A few years ago, I'd have said Lord of the Rings. Now that that's done, I have mixed feelings about that sort of thing.
Q. How do you feel about playing characters of the opposite sex? (Answer!)
A. Huh. I don't play female characters in an MMO. To me, playing a character is just that - playing a character. I enjoy the artwork, and have found females models to be very well done and intriguing to lwatch. But, atter but after a few whispers of "u wnt 2 cyb3r lol?", uh... yeah, no thanks.
Q. What is your first computer or video gaming memory? (Answer!)
A. The Atari 2600. Christmas, 1983? I can't remember the year exactly. I was really, really young. My father bought it for a gift. And we sat there for days, me and him, taking turns and playing breakout and centipede. Best. Christmas. Ever.
Q. What is the most overlooked or misunderstood game? (Answer!)
A. Okamai. Such a great game, but it just didn't sell. It's sad with a beautiful game is made, and gets overlooked simply because "zomg it's not GTA OR MADDEN!". *facepalms*
A. I've used a variety of mods on WoW, but the one I used the most is Healbot. When I played FFXI, I used Windower, but after being reprimanded for using it, I quit - and then promptly quit FFXI afterward because of SE's anal retentive game. I loved mods for WoW, good stuff.
Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. One of two things, strong and noble, or mischievous looking
Q. Other than your console or PC, what is the piece of hardware you can't live without? (Answer!)
A. *huggles his Nintendo brand gaming console, which starts with W and ends with ii. Ha. There, no e-peen jokes. >.o
Q. What are the proper uses of tank guns and bubblegum? (Answer!)
A. Combined, they create a weapon so powerful that it can nuke countries off the face of the earth, and still leave a rubbery, yet shiny, residue.
Q. What experience do you have beta-testing games? (Answer!)
A. Beta tested WoW, and a few PS2 games.
