How I found my preferred MMORPG
It was around november 2004. At the time my only MMO experience (3D MMO, i'm not going to speak about all the MUDs I played) was Anarchy Online and the unlucky 2 months in URU Prologue (Myst Online). I was deciding what fantasy MMO to try and, having already discarded WoW, because of my bad feeling with Blizzard, I ended up to buy Everquest II.
When I was at a store, looking for the EQ2 box, my eyes were captured by another very nice box, related to an unknown to me MMORPG: The Saga of Ryzom.
The beautiful cover and all the story written outside the box in a very well translated local language really catched my attention, so I decided to buy both games. I was out the store with the collectors edition of EQ2 and the normal edition of SoR.
I really bought SoR blinded, not knowing anything of the game.
Well, just to make this story not too long, I played EQ2 just few months (around 3 months) while I played Ryzom more than 3 years, till the shutdown of the servers in february 2008. And no other following MMO, played or trialed, could steal my soul from the wonderful living planet Atys.
I'm still happy to be part of the great Ryzom Community and I'm waiting the game fully back up soon, as announced.

A. I tried one time, it lasted just 5 minutes. I cannot play characters of the opposite sex.

A. No music, i love environment sounds

A. I would, but i think i'm a bit old now to start thinking on that.

A. I prefer to rise above such debates

A. 10-20

A. I can use any kind, but not often. Anyway i never use tools at beginning, to avoid spoiling the fun.

Q. If you made your own game, what would it be like? (Answer!)
A. I like a single instanced world, sandbox style with soryline-quests only, player-made items only, and classless. Exactly the opposite of all that the actual MMO's offer.

Q. What sort of players annoy you the most? (Answer!)
A. Same as in real life: stupid people.

Q. Have you ever had a romantic encounter with someone you met in a game? (Answer!)
A. I did not ever happen

Q. What do your characters and avatars usually look like? (Answer!)
A. It depends on the game they live.

Q. Have you ever had a memorable real-life meeting with other gamers? (Answer!)
A. No

Q. What are your favorite tabletop (RPG, board, miniatures, etc.) games? (Answer!)
A. O liked some old board game (monopoly, risk), but i don't play any now.

Q. Where did you get your gaming names from? (Answer!)
A. Sumer legend about immortality, one of the ancient masterpieces, is my favourite name, if I can do. Otherwise they depend by the context of the game.

Q. What are your thoughts on roleplaying in games? (Answer!)
A. I prefer being IC naturally instead of forcing the language. I don't RP but I am always IC while playing.

Q. How do you feel about selling virtual items for real money? (Do NOT advertise RMT services!) (Answer!)
A. Anything that can affect the balance of the game experience of the players is really really BAD. The 'rich' and the 'poor' should always play with same advantages in online games. MMOs should not be the same as real life.

Q. What is a feature you would like added to GamerDNA? (Answer!)
A. PvP? Joking :)

A. I think they reflect my gaming personality pretty well

A. Official forums, mmorpg.com, mmorpgitalia.it, some game fansite.

A. Uhm, being a bit 'old', i remember the first ever videogame: 'pong'.

A. I like it If it's meaningful

A. They are good if they don't exploit the game.

Q. What are your most memorable achievements in a game? (Answer!)
A. Dinging 2 masters almost at same time in Ryzom was a great feeling: Avatar of Destruction (250 offensive magician) and Master of Blade (250 2h sword). Reaching a total of 3 masters (also Celestial Guardian, 250 defensive magician) and almost another (240 Lake Forager) not counting other skills at 150+ and 200+ was an hard job, but it was the best fun i ever had.

A. I have beta tested some game.

A. Male

A. evenings and, sometimes, at night. My local timezone is GMT+1

A. Asus P5BSE Intel Core Duo 2.66GHz Conroe 2 GB DDR2-6400 RAM 2x HD Sata-1 7200rpm ATI X1650 PRO 512 PCI-e Onboard Realtek HD Audio Windows XP and Ubuntu uhm... yes, I should update my GPU.

Q. If you could meet any game developer, who would it be? (Answer!)
A. Raph Koster, because he's one of the few that speaks about virtual worlds and not just games.<br>Rand Miller, because Myst is in my heart.<br>Entire Nevrax team for the fantastic concept that was Ryzom.

Q. What is the most overlooked or misunderstood game? (Answer!)
A. Ryzom. Many people that joined few days before the shutdown (because of the free trial available) were angry because they didn't know about this beautiful and unique game before. Unfortunately the devs did'nt done anything to ads properly the game.

Q. Other than your console or PC, what is the piece of hardware you can't live without? (Answer!)
A. My brain, also if it seems often empty.

Q. Why do you join guilds or clans? (Answer!)
A. Grouping is a big part of any MMORPG. Guilds and Clans are just the right way to be part of any virtual world also if you wanna play solo often.
