A. I don't often join guilds, as I find it difficult to find ones that fit my requirements. Thus, I usually start one myself.</p><p >What I look for in a guild, firstly and foremostly, is a haven. Somewhere where the quality of discussion is such that I never feel like turning guildchat off. Given that I am intolerant of a) intolerance, b) stupidity, c) frat boy humour, d) l33tspeak, and e) impoliteness, that can be tricky to find.</p><p >I am wary of grand guild schemes, that require high levels of member donations. They tend to benefit only the few, though there can be worthwhile exceptions (such as building a guildhall).</p><p >Mostly, what I expect from guildmembers, whether I'm the GM or not, is a high degree of self-sufficiency. Folks who want hand-outs do not impress me. That refers of course to material goods. Where one's guild comes in is providing good advice on how to get what you need, and aiding you towards that goal as needed. The tastiest fish is the one you caught yourself.
