DESCRIPTION

Zero Wing is a conventional side-scrolling shooter in which the player controls a small spaceship, shooting enemies and avoiding obstacles while moving towards a fixed screen "boss" encounter at the end of the level. Various power-ups provide the ship with different and more deadly shots. The game takes place about 100 years in the future at the height of an alien invasion.

Though the arcade version of the game does not have a deep back story, cut-scenes featuring still shots and written dialogue are included in the Genesis ports. The quirky catch phrase "All Your Base Are Belong To Us" comes from an awkward English translation in the European version of Zero Wing.
