DESCRIPTION
Created by stalwart 2D developer Psikyo, Zero Gunner 2 is a vertical-scrolling shooter with a unique twist - the ability to rotate your helicopter through 360 degrees. By pressing the requisite button, a green target will appear on the screen, allowing players to rotate around that point in any direction they choose. This gameplay mechanic is an integral part of the game, and comes constantly into play. After creating a weapon capable of changing the weather, a powerful conglomerate sets out to take over the world.
Half of the planet's population is destroyed in the ensuing attacks and those left behind have no choice but to adopt the Zero Gunner System, a highly sophisticated unmanned attack chopper controlled by the brain of an expert pilot. After choosing from one of three different helicopters (Apache, Comanche and Hokum) on offer, each with varied ratings in speed and slightly altered weaponry (homing missiles or lasers for instance), players embark on a quest to stop the overwhelming forces plaguing the planet.
By collecting green crystals left behind by fallen enemies, it's possible to fill up a bomb meter, which, as one would expect, destroys anything currently onscreen when used. Large, robotic bosses populate each level and go through a number of transformations before finally succumbing to the continuous onslaught of missiles and gunfire. While stages scroll vertically for the most part, sections are present where the screen moves horizontally. Zero Gunner 2 features 3D backgrounds and an array of special effects. ~ Gavin Frankle, All Game Guide
