A clumsy port of Sega's groundbreaking arcade game, Zaxxon suffers in its translation to the Intellivision. Very similar to the dismal Atari 2600 version also manufactured by Coleco, Intellivision Zaxxon ditches the original game's isometric 3D perspective for a vaguely first-person perspective. Not only does this make the game look nothing like its inspiration, but it also plays nothing like it. It's hard to gauge altitude and distance from your plane's targets as you zip through a Star Wars-inspired trench to do battle with the robot boss at the end of the game. (The Intellivision's disc controller also adds to the frustration.) A bit disappointing, especially when games like Imagic's Dracula showed that the Intellivision was more than up to the task of an isometric 3D environment. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
