DESCRIPTION

As long as mankind has been around, he's been looking skyward. Just as man conquered gravity, he eventually traveled faster then the speed of light. Through the use of jump gates, the push to colonize space began. However, conditions in the universe were harsh and made colonization and building difficult. The answer was advanced robotics.

Eventually, terraforming and construction became the domain of the robot. Intelligence began to surface and master became servant when its own robots attacked humanity. Faced with destruction and a fleet advancing upon Earth, desperate humans tricked the advancing fleet into a jump gate and destroyed it. However, once again, man was trapped in one corner of space.

Five hundred years later, the X-Prototype is constructed. The X-Prototype is the first ship capable of long range travel without the use of jump gates. When the test run fails, you (the player) are trapped well beyond the limits of imagination. With only the ship around you and your wits, you must survive in a corner of space so far away that Earth hasn't even been discovered yet.

X-Beyond the Frontier is a space simulation set in a commerce-driven section of the universe. You must, by wit or strength, survive with little or nothing to start. There's money to be made by trade or force. Buy goods or buy industries, the galaxy is your oyster! Don't feel like playing nice? Take the goods but don't expect the locals to be happy about it. Would you rather fight? Mercenaries are always needed to help protect the good citizens of the universe from the lawless pirates. There are no commanding officers to give orders and no mission plans. In this part of space, there are no road signs to tell you which direction to go and no enemies besides the ones you make for yourself.

X-Beyond features six separate species, sixty plus product lines and 150 different types of operational spacecraft and space stations. With over 10,000 objects in the game's universe, there is quite a bit to see and no one's going to tell you how or when to see it in this open-ended space adventure. ~ The Jaded Critic, All Game Guide
