WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game lets you dance on the mats with some of the biggest names in professional wrestling. Fight as or against digitized renditions of Bam Bam Bigelow, Doink, Brett "Hitman" Hart, Lex Luger, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Undertaker and Yokozuna with hopes of winning the Intercontinental Title or the World Wrestling Federation Title.
Intercontinental mode consists of four one-on-one bouts, a series of one-on-two matches, and a championship one-on-three bout. WWF title action features two-on-one bouts against all the other wrestlers, a series of three-on-one bouts against all eight wrestlers, and a special Royal Rumble match to end all matches. If you want to play this game with a friend, you can battle head-to-head in a best of three one-fall match, or you can team up in a series of two-on-two matches against all eight wrestlers, including yourselves!
Wrestlers in this game fight using a number of different punches and kicks and an assortment of moves specific to the sport of wrestling, such as back drops, flying dropkicks, reversals, super clotheslines, head slams, suplexes, bodyslams and piledrivers. Wrestlers can climb atop the turnbuckle and launch an attack, and each wrestler has special arcade-style Mayhem Moves, such as the Tombstone Slam and the Shocking Hand Buzzer. Combination moves (up to 30-hits in succession) are also part of the game. Sometimes the action will get out of hand and move outside the ring.
Wrestling matches are timed, and each opponent has an energy meter, which depletes with every hit sustained. When you are on the ropes or almost completely down and out, you can rapidly press any button to hasten your recovery. WWF WrestleMania: The Arcade Game also features play-by-play commentary by Vince McMahon, a veteran of the WWF broadcast booth. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
