Publisher THQ's fifth wrestling title for the Nintendo 64, WWF No Mercy seeks to improve upon the weaknesses of its predecessors. In the graphics department, the game uses the same engine found in WWF WrestleMania 2000. Still, a number of new animations have been added to increase the realism of the characters. Another one of the major changes is the addition of wrestlers. As any fan knows, the world of wrestling is constantly shifting, with new athletes being added on a weekly basis. As a result, WWF No Mercy sports a number of the newer WWF members, including Kirk Angle, Chris Benoit, and the Hardy Boys.

The gameplay has also been tweaked in a number of ways. For instance, a weapon grabbed from the crowd in WWF No Mercy will not disappear when knocked from the player's hand. Instead, it will fall to the mat and wait to be reused. Another feature is the Special Referee match, which lets the player control the match's outcome. If you are overseeing a match with your favorite wrestler, you can help swing the fight in his favor. The player can regulate the timing of the 3-count, and even lay the "smackdown" on a hated foe. In addition, a Ladder Match option has been included. This allows players to recreate the excitement and tension of the classic ladder bouts.

As with all the Nintendo 64 wrestling games, WWF No Mercy is a four-player game. It also supports the Rumble Pak accessory to provide vibration feedback for every punch, kick and body slam. Fans who also own the Transfer Pak will be able to transfer data from the Game Boy Color version to purchase items or upgrade their favorite wrestlers. ~ Bryan Melville, All Game Guide

“im a little dissapointed that i couldnt finish him with a no winner for the day, i guess i have to give Blue credit for being a fighter, guess that's why he's one half of the tag team champs. i have to fight him hard to train him in case Lacy and Boogie try to get slick and go after the tag belts. They have been AWOL since the current 3x, 3x, 3x, singles champ, 3way champ, and one half of the tag team champ been on a tear through the league. See they think this is a game, but its very much real. Most of Team Irv thinks that this is some hobby i have and im some guy boosting a website but this is very much real. These guys havent seen most of these post and by the time they do, you will see the real scores and comments from me then you can judge for yourself who is the best most active champ. ”

“Again im dissapointed that i couldnt close out the day undefeated. Fighting back for the belt was fun and too bad it wasnt on camera today but as you follow this game you will see domination from me. With the Holy Spirit in my corner now and new mergers on the horizon, i dont see the title changing hands again anytime soon. I beat Blue up pretty bad the day after this post Lacy seemed a bit on the Irv's the best at this game after this match. Lacy wanted to watch wshh instead of challengnig me to a singles match which brought me to my brett farve moment earlier this year. Im putting a lot of heat on Blue in the ring just incase a tag match comes up. Folks as you go on this ride with me on this game, most of the league has a very different view of what's REALLY happning with this game. You're going to hear all kinds of yester year strories of "when i was champ" but keep watching, these stories are always going to be told by a camp fire with some smores because allthough these guys are good im that much better. and after i set the GBOWR for survilval mode (Lord Willing) these guys will have to say that i was one of the best to touch the stick. ”
