DESCRIPTION
Team 17's Worms blasts off with a new theme and new kind of gameplay, designed to appeal to series newcomers and Wii fans alike. Teams of endearing, well-armed little worm soldiers take timed turns attacking one another with all sorts of overpowered armaments, until only one remains. Simplicity and accessibility prevail in this addition to the long-running series, as the weapon selection has been condensed to just over a dozen guns and gadgets, and the game can be controlled entirely with the Wii Remote.
Aside from the gesture-based controls, Space Oddity's other major departure from series convention is that it allows players to take practice shots. Dotted lines appear to track each practice shot, and if the player is satisfied with the trajectory, a practice shot can be locked in and used for the actual shot.
Some things seems never to change, however, including the cute, customizable combatants, the destructible battlefields, and the massive, often unexpected collateral damage. Worms fans are also sure to recognize favorite weapons — even though they might have new, sci-fi inspired names, like the "Guided Frag" homing missile, the "Blaster" shotgun, or the "Impact Frag" bazooka shells — as well as the crazy chaos they can create. ~ T.J.
