DESCRIPTION
World Heroes is a Japanese 2D Fighter that is obviously at least trying to clone the success of the Street Fighter II series. Developed by SNK and published on the Super Nintendo in Japan by Sunsoft, this arcade conversion will be one hot commodity on Nintendo's 16-bit wonder.
World Heroes features no fewer than eight fearless warriors from across the globe each with various styles of fighting and origins. Fighters include Hanzo the Japanese Ryu wanna-be, Ninja Fuuma, Bruce lee look a like Dragon, Jane the heavily armored fencer, J.Carn the marauder, American Hulk Hogan like wrestler M. Power, Brocken the almost carbon copy of M.Bison and Rasputin the great spiritual sorcerer. As you can see al fighters are either based on real fighters or in some instances based on other gaming characters namely Street Fighter 2.
World Heroes also offers the option of one player storyline fighting through the "start" mode or to go head to head against a friend in the highly reputable Vs mode. Players in the Vs. mode can also select from the eight available fighting locations and also even up battles through the unique handicap option. Examples of fighting locations are a boxing ring, a circus, Japanese market, cathedral, middle-eastern village and an electrified ring. The option to play both normal and deathmatch mode for both single and two player modes is also diverse and allows factors apart from your opponent to be of concern.
General game options include seven fighting difficulties (game levels) and availability of time limits from turned off to 30, 60 or 99. Players can also fully customize controls and also choose from one-button (where high and low kick etc. are counted as one button) or for the more Mortal Kombat feel go for the two-button routines that lets players manually choose between high and low attacks. For those of you who are worried about the Japanese conversion, the only difference here is that the small amount of storyline is presented in Japanese, otherwise there is no difference. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
