DESCRIPTION
An evil alien shape shifting being known as Gigas, who wants to rule over humankind, is threatening the Earth. To stop this threat to humanity a group of scientists have reached across time to recruit eight powerful fighters. These eight fighters will compete against each other to see who is the best fighter amongst them. Then the victor will take on Gigas himself to save Earth.
World Heroes is a 2D fighting game with eight characters for players to choose from. Each character can perform several special moves like fireballs or Street Fighter 2 style dragon punches. There are no super meters or desperation moves. The goal of the game is to defeat all of the other characters, then beat Gigas, who can turn into any of the game's characters and use their moves. World Heroes uses three of the Neo Geo controller's buttons. A is for punch and B is for kick, with C being throw. By tapping A or B players can perform light punches or kicks, while holding A or B down will cause the character to perform a heavy punch or kick.
World Heroes has two modes of play, regular and deathmatch. Regular mode plays like traditional fighters, and has no special characteristics. Deathmatch mode has the same rules and gameplay, except that the stage is filled with traps of various sorts that the characters have to contend with while fighting. Characters may have to evade mines placed on the ground, fight on slippery terrain, or avoid walls that are spiked, electrified, or on fire. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
