DESCRIPTION
Relive the 1998 World Cup tournament in France with Electronic Arts' World Cup 98. The 32 teams that made the tournament plus eight others are available along with their real players and the real stadiums. Take on the computer in a tournament or friendly match or play against some friends over a network or modem.
If you're looking for something a little different, you can also pick two teams and control one in a penalty shoot-out. If you win the entire tournament, you can unlock eight classic World Cup final matches. Start with the 1982 final and work your way back to the 1930 one.
Gameplay options will help you tweak the match to your choosing. You can alter the referee strictness, turn on the fatigue factor, even out two teams so that their skill levels are the same (handy for playing a friend when you want to see who's better at the game) and enable catch-up logic so that the losing team has a better chance of evening the score.
As the manager of your squad, you can set the starting lineup, select your formations and make substitutions during the match. You can also tweak your overall team strategy and even coach individual players by customizing their attributes and telling them how aggressive to be on the field.
During the game you'll hear the chants and songs that are typical of soccer matches, and celebrations every time there's a goal. If you want to stop and watch a replay, you can do so at any time and save your favorites. It's also possible to save games and tournaments already in progress. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
