DESCRIPTION
Based on the classic computer game of the same name, Wings of Fury puts you in an F6F Hellcat fighter plane over the Pacific Ocean during the waning days of World War II. Your mission is to escort the damaged aircraft carrier U.S.S. Wasp back to safe territory and destroy as many enemy planes and shops as you can along the way.
There are 15 missions total, and you must go through them all one by one. As you complete them, you'll earn passwords enabling you to return where you left off. Each mission starts with a briefing where you're given special instructions and a list of targets to concentrate on. You must destroy all targets and return safely to complete the mission, and you receive bonus points if you conserve your fuel and payload.
As you fly, you'll see the area scroll beneath you. The game switches between distant and close views depending on how high you're flying. An instrument panel displays your air speed, oil pressure, fuel level, height above sea level and direction; monitor these areas to ensure success. You have bombs, rockets and torpedoes at your disposal, each of which should be used on a different type of target.
In addition, you have a variety of flying maneuvers at your command such as barrel rolls, dive bombs and the split S. And be careful when landing on the U.S.S. Wasp at the end of each mission: if you crash, the mission will be a failure.
That will be all, soldier. Good luck to you. ~ Brad Cook, All Game Guide
