DESCRIPTION

Similar to stealth games such as Syphon Filter and Metal Gear Solid, WinBack offers a sneak-and-destroy type of gameplay throughout a series of missions. Terrorists from the country Sarcozia have overrun and taken command of a U.S. military installation. The terrorists now have access to a satellite weapon capable of destroying any target on the Earth.

Your character Jean Luc and a group of diverse team members are part of a covert SWAT-like team called SCAT. Your mission is to infiltrate the now-captured terrorist back and regain control of the satellite weapon. You are ferried to the installation via helicopter with your infiltration team but the helicopter you are riding in is attacked. The entire team is separated, and now in addition to carrying out your orders, you must meet up with all of your team members who are scattered all over the base.

Your character can creep along walls with his back pressed against it or perform somersaults to avoid gunfire. Players will also find pistols, assault rifles, rocket launchers, and C4 at their disposal while traversing through the military base. The game is divided into 31 stages, and gameplay switches periodically throughout the game from all-out frontal assaults to stealth infiltration. The camera can either follow the player behind the back or be manipulated at the player's will. Winback supports force feedback and includes a multiplayer deathmatch mode for 2 to 4 players and a bot mode. ~ J.C. Barnes, All Game Guide
