DESCRIPTION
Virtua Fighter 2 brings back the characters from Virtua Fighter for another go at the World Fighting Tournament. This tournament takes place one year after the one that took place in the original game. Each of the ten fighters has their own reason for being at the tournament.
Akira Yuki wishes to defeat his newest rival, Wolf Hawkfield. Pai Chan, the Hong Kong film star, wants to defeat her father who is also the defending champion, Lau Chan. Jeffrey McWild simply fights to preserve his livelihood. The ninja Kage-maru is trying to uncover who actually runs the World Fighting Tournament. Jacky Bryant has a goal of rescuing his sister, Sarah Bryant, who has been brainwashed and trained to eliminate her brother. Shun-di, a master of Drunken-style kung fu, fights only to test his skills. Lion Rafale, at the young age of 15, fights for the right to leave his family who are "death merchants."
Virtua Fighter 2 features six modes of play: Arcade, VS, Expert, Ranking, Team Battle, and Watch. Options are available for customization but under the default settings each match is a best two out of three. Players lose when either their life gauge runs out, the timer runs out and they have the least amount of life in their gauge, or they leave the arena. Every character has their own background that represents them. The final boss, Dural, must be battled underwater. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide
