DESCRIPTION
Following Redemption, Bloodlines is second PC title based on White Wolf's successful tabletop role-playing game, Vampire: The Masquerade, and features a first-person-action style similar to that of its 2000 predecessor. In the role of vampire character, gamers adventure through a mature-themed story set in the dark underworld of a gothic Los Angeles. Players can engage in both ranged and melee combat, while exploration, character development, and other role-playing elements are also important. Bloodlines was developed by Troika Games, which was founded by members of the Fallout and Fallout 2 teams and is known for the well-received Arcanum, as well as the D&D-based RPG Temple of Elemental Evil. ~ T.J. “Ok, this game is bloody marvelous (pun intended). And if you like vampire lore, WOW. Graphics are showing its age, but the story and environments are soo good that doesn't matter. I wish there were a sequel to this, but I have read it did not sell, so I am not holding my breath. Main quest is where the action is and where the fun part is too. If you don't have it go buy it (digitally, probably hard to get a disc). Its roots are from board-game-RPG. Which you notice as there is a lot of lore to pick from when creating the story. Not for children.”

“The first few times I played this I loved it & sometimes I still wander around in the World of Darkness. The story is still nice, but nowadays the graphics are lacking a bit too much.”

“Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines is one of the earliest examples of a beautiful first-person rpg with complex narrative and artistic elements. Fallout 3 has since shown VtM:B up as the best of its kind, but since its release, Troika's dark masterpiece has enthralled a large community of modders and (American) rpg-enthusiasts.
The game's story is complicated, especially if the player has no background with the World of Darkness pencil & paper roleplaying games in which VtM:B is set. The premise, however, is simple: your character has been turned into a vampire, for reasons unknown, and your sire is promptly killed off by Prince LaCroix, the local ruling vampire -- he's miffed that your sire didn't ask for his permission before turning you. Rather than kill you, though, LaCroix sends you to Santa Monica to take care of a few tasks for him. Before too long, you find yourself caught up in a dizzying array of plots and schemes cooked up by the undead in LA and nearby cities. (If you enjoy stumbling across apparently random and totally optional side quests in your rpgs, this game's for you...) The game's story and variety of questlines more than make up for its technical failings.
Which is a good thing, because the game's original release left a lot to be desired in terms of development. It was, simply put, a hot mess -- unfinished questlines, unimplemented features abandoned at the last minute, and memory leaks galore. Now, years after its release, the game's dedicated fans have developed a patch that fixes almost all of these problems/conspicuous absences, and players who download one or more of the fan patches should have only minimal trouble with the game.
Long story short: if you enjoyed Fallout 3, and don't mind getting your hands dirty with a game that has some technical problems but a fantastic setting and story, I highly recommend VtM:B.”

... But seriously, this is an excellent game. It is a shame that Trokia died, but they made some very good games. It has a solid story, great atmosphere, fun gameplay... But it had bugs. Plenty of bugs, and that's what kept it, and every other game the company turned out, down.”

“The reason it got a 3 is because of how annoying it was to get working, I had the game for years with computer after computer that would not run it. I had to use a friend's to play, till I got one that would. Once it does run it's very good.”

“The gameplay is not the best and the game is very bugy overall. However the adult setting and its rich story makes it very Immersible. This is one of my favorite role-playing games to date. With unofficial patches being released even today.”

“Great RPG, if you like vampires, you need to play this game. It is still highly supported by fans and there are unofficial patches out that fix all of the bugs. This is a prime example of a game that NEEDS a sequel, but sadly may never get one. ”

And it's Tremere actually. You chose the mage type clan, which is the same type that my best friend chose. Here's hoping that you don't stop playing as quickly as he did.
Anyways, please keep me updated. Not enough people play this game”
