DESCRIPTION
V-Rally Edition 99 for Game Boy Color offers a total of 20 tracks in ten distinct regions around the world. Players choose between four officially licensed rally cars (Peugeot 306 Maxi, Mitsubishi Lancer, V-Rally Ford Escort, or Subaru Impreza) as they prepare to race across sand, snow, asphalt, and dirt against nine computer opponents. Each course features a combination of hairpin turns, hills, cones, rocks, oil slicks, and jumps as players race in two modes of play: Championship and Arcade.
Championship involves finishing within the top times to advance to the next area, while Arcade lets players compete on any of the courses to practice their driving skills. The perspective is set directly behind the car as players anticipate turns by watching arrows that periodically appear in the center of the screen. Featured locales include Indonesia, Africa, Corsica, New Zealand, Alps, United Kingdom, Greece, Argentina, Italy, and Sweden. Three difficulty settings influence the degree of competition from computer opponents. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
